You don’t have to be crafty to create cleverly accessorized egg cartons ready to give as gifts! We’ll walk you through all the steps, show you the supplies we used and do it all on a budget of about 50¢ each. It is no secret that giving away darling bundles of eggs is a fantastic way to increase your weekly egg sales, too. Here is how to become a pro at gift wrapping egg cartons!
Gift Wrapping Egg Cartons
Everyone needs to do holiday baking. Whether autumn is in the air and cinnamony baked goods are beckoning or extended family is coming for a big Easter breakfast, a gift of delicious, buttery, pasture raised eggs is always well-received! Teacher gifts, Thanksgiving family presents, holiday neighbor gifts and Easter hostess gifts are just a few of the excuses I find to give away a half dozen farm fresh eggs.
Hand Gathered Goodies
Start by selecting a good quality carton in a half dozen or full dozen size, depending on how many gifts you need to give. You can buy them in bulk but Amazon has fair prices on white, kraft and colored pulp options. (Affiliate links.) You’ll need to fill the cartons with clean eggs before tying the cartons closed.
Twine, Tags and Punches
Baker’s twine in natural, autumn, Easter or holiday colors, jute twine, kraft tags, card stock in white or kraft, shaped paper punches and my stamps are the primary supplies I use. Burlap ribbon, flowers, and various little findings can be added to make your cartons look adorable! I prefer to use Glue Dots to affix flowers, buttons, rhinestones and other embellishments to the cartons. (Affiliate links.)
Begin Wrapping
I prefer to let my stamped carton top show but if you don’t have a decorative stamp, wrapping the carton in scrapbook paper or wide ribbon are both cute options. Use double sided tape to secure the paper or ribbons as needed. (Affiliate link.)
Layer It On!
Begin layering on tags, buttons and embellishments to create an eye-catching carton. If you have paper punches or scrapbook supplies collecting dust, use them! Accessory groupings of 3 to 5 tend to look best. Coordinating rhinestones affixed to the front carton flap or tabs add sparkle. Use natural materials like burlap, linen, raffia ribbon and dried flowers for a more rustic, farmhousey appearance. Small bunches of baby’s breath or floral sprigs can be purchased for under $5 at your grocery store flower market.
All Tied Up
Adding one to three strands of twine give your eggs the perfect finishing touch. Use a 1/8 inch hole punch on tags to make a perfectly teensy hole that slips easily onto the twine. Your wrapped carton is ready for the recipient! (Affiliate link.)
Side Effects Include Increased Sales
Stamped and wrapped cartons can’t help but attract more sales. Giving away a charming half dozen with your contact information is a clever way to generate interest. You can read about our tips and stamping tricks to get perfect looking cartons every time.
Hatching Egg Packaging
If you own a rooster and can breed colored egg layers or purebreds, you’ve got what you need! Cute bundles of hatching eggs fetch premium prices when you post pictures online of your eggs, chicks and wrapped cartons together. You can read more here about how to make $100 per week every spring selling hatching eggs from 10 hens.
