Winter Wonderland
I love winter. It doesn’t snow where I live so when the temps finally drop into the 60’s, we can tackle projects we have put off during the hundred degree days of summer. In the kitchen I usually have a list of recipes to try, when I don’t mind the oven heating up the house. The garage bursts into activity, heaped with lumber and building projects every weekend. Pine trees begin to scent the cool air along with the fragrance of wood smoke. It is such a glorious time of year!
Holiday Nostalgia
In the middle of the busy season, it is easy to overlook the joys around us. The kids are out of school, neighbors are outside putting up Christmas lights, pickup trucks are driving past with fresh trees and cookies are being frosted in the kitchen. The sights and smell of Christmas are truly special.
Savor Precious Family Recipes
Take the time to hand write a favorite family recipe and jot a tiny date on the card. It may seem like nothing now but in a decade, won’t it be sweet to remember this Christmas together? When I inherited my grandmother’s box of handwritten recipe cards, inside I found charming notes and clippings from the 1950’s through the 1980’s. Even though my grandmother has passed on, I can still have her help in the kitchen any time I want through the notes and recipes she left. Let’s keep these gentle, comforting traditions moving forward into the next generation.

This recipe card design isn’t just a trendy fad. Where I live in Magnolia, there are a number of vintage trucks still on the road and in December it is possible to see them hauling trees from the nearby Christmas Tree Farm. It is a charming holiday sight!
Spread a Little Cheer
These enchanting recipe cards make quick, effortless hostess, neighbor or teacher gifts. Simply print four sheets – a full dozen cards – to cut out and tie the stack with classic red and white baker’s twine.
